ICAT supports the Government of Equatorial Guinea — through the Ministerio de Medio Ambiente y Economía Azul — in operationalizing a MRV system encompassing the national GHG inventory, GHG projections for priority sectors and monitoring the progress of NDC implementation. The project will strengthen Equatorial Guinea’s capacity to meet the Biennial Transparency Report (BTR) reporting requirements under the Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) of the Paris Agreement while supporting evidence-based planning and decision-making for climate action.

Overview
The overall objective of the project is to strengthen Equatorial Guinea’s capacity to adopt, formalize, and operationalize an MRV system covering the GHG inventory, GHG projections, and tracking of NDC implementation. In addition, the project aims to assess the impacts of mitigation actions on sustainable development, including priority mitigation policies and measures (PaMs) in the energy sector, and establish the foundations for a digital transparency platform.
